Ferret Snack Attack

Even though ferrets spend a majority of their lives sleeping, they more than make up for that downtime while awake. In order to remain energetic and playful, ferrets need a high-protein, low-fiber diet. Many ferret owners supplement their pets’ regular diet with treats.
A diverse range of ferret treats are available for discerning owners to select. Since ferrets require a diet rich in meat, many treats come in corresponding flavors. Some of the most popular flavors available in the market today include chicken, bacon, and even peanut butter. Ferrets are no different from other pets in that they deserve the occasional reward – a treat can provide a boost in morale as well as energy.

As more and more people become aware of ferrets and what great pets they can make, the need for ferret accessories is growing accordingly. And just like with any animal, it’s important to outfit your home with all the necessary pet products before your ferret ever even arrives at home. In addition to a safe and durable cage, you’re also going to need a selection of ferret-specific toys and exercise products. And don’t forget all the food products either.
Ferrets absolutely love to eat, and they also need a sufficient amount of water. So make sure that his or her cage has a durable ferret dish. This should be small enough that your ferret can easily reach inside for the food or water. And if you know somebody that has a ferret, this would make a great gift. Replace a drab, boring, and solely practical dish with a decorative dish. This is sure to be functional and fun!
His Only Comfort

My son hates going to daycare. I feel sad that I have to leave him there everyday – but I don’t have any choice as a single parent. I have to make a living to provide a good life for him. Of course he’s too young to understand all of this.
The only thing that seems to console him is his ferret stuffed animal. He loves that stuffed toy so much. He’s had it since he was a toddler, so it’s pretty scruffy, but he doesn’t seem to mind. He often asks me when he can get a real ferret. I tell him that he has to be a little bit older. For now, the stuffed ferret will have to do.
Keep the Stink Away

Just like a cat or a dog, ferrets need to be groomed. This may include brushing them, bathing them and clipping their nails. Ferrets have a bad reputation for being stinky animals, but this reputation is more likely a product of people not properly grooming them. When humans don’t bath regularly they get body odor – the same thing happens to ferrets.
Don’t scrimp when caring for your pets – ferrets included. They deserve good care just as much as any child. You can easily find ferret grooming products at any online pet store. A well-groomed ferret will be a happier ferret. And a good smelling ferret will make for a happier owner.
Curious, Energetic & Playful

Despite their cheeky nature and cute appearance, ferrets were originally used for hunting or also known as ferreting. Ferrets run wild to chase small rodents and rabbits out of their burrows. However, this is now illegal in many countries, but is still being practiced in Australia and the United Kingdom because this method still proves to be more successful than the other hunting technologies developed for the same purpose.
Because of their curious and energetic playful nature, ferrets are more commonly kept as pets nowadays. They are very similar to kittens, which is why they are preferred by many animal lovers. The minor downside of the ferret is that they tend to nip when they are young. Though intending it only in a playful manner, it can get annoying for an owner who does not fully understand their nature. This habit can be eliminated with proper training, and usually dispels on its own with age. Ferrets have quite a long lifespan of around 6 to 10 years, but in some cases can live into their teens.

Ferrets are very playful and active animals. So if you have them as a pet, you need to give them toys and activities that will channel their energies. One way to have with them is to have a ferret play tunnel. The Marshall Double Fun Tunnel Tent has divided tunnels with holes for your pet to play in. It also has balls with bells for more fun.
It has a strong construction so that the running movements of the ferret will not bring the tent down. It measures 12 inches wide x 20 inches long x 8 inches high. It is very easy to set up and you can take it along on your trips so your ferret will always have something to do. They will have hours of fun running around the tunnel tent.

A ferret is a playful and energetic pet. This is why it is a popular pet especially among children. Of course, because children are known to get too excited sometimes, it is always best to closely supervise a child when playing with his or her pet ferret. There have been cases of ferret bites, especially on infants and younger children.
A ferret is almost a nocturnal animal. They can spend 14 to 18 hours a day sleeping. However, when they are awake, they are so energetic and often want o be removed from their cages. Ferrets enjoy hide-and-seek games. They are known to “steal” some things from you and hide them. This pet also enjoys playing with ferret sports balls.

Ferret Food For Thought
Author: Ferret_Style
Many people have different ideas about what ferrets should eat. If you asked an Australian farmer they would probably tell you “bread and milk”. But if you asked another ferret owner they may say soft cat food, and another person may tell you to give the furry creatures chicken wings. Ferrets are actually carnivores, and in the wild their diets consist of baby birds and other small animals.
Ferret owners should know that their ferret may need various foods in his diet to get proper nutrition. Eggs, raw white meat, fruits, and vegetables are all recommended. Ferret treats may include cat treats and bites of fruit. Under no circumstances should a ferret be fed chocolate or dairy products.
